Frequently Asked Question
These instructions step you through adding additional authentication factors to your company email account. Authentication factor that are supported follow:

Alternate phone | A voice or SMS capable phone that can receive an SMS code or an audio code |
A non work email address to which an authentication code can be sent | |
Office phone | A voice only phone where an audio code can be received |
At least one of these needs to be configured for your email account before 1/9/2023 and that is the date that enforcement will be turned on.
Any account for which at least one additional factor is not configured will not be able to send or receive email once enforcement is turned on. Enforcement will be enabled on 1/9/2023.
1. Sign in to your company account by navigating to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
in a browser.
2. go to your account portal by navigating to your initials in the upper right hand corner and selecting "View account", or by navigating to this URL, post login: https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
3. Select the "Security info" navigation item:
4. Select "Add sign-n method" and select "Authenticator app" from the pop up
5. From the popup, at least one of the options needs to be selected to secure your email account.
6a Let’s add a phone. Select Phone from the pop up
6a1 Select your country code, enter your phone number, choose whether to receive an SMS code or a voice call with the code and select Next
6a2 Enter the code that was received on the phone and select Next
6a3 Phone is now added as an authentication factor. You can quit here or add other factors. When logging in, you may be challenged to enter the code that will be sent to the phone just added.
6b Let’s add a personal email account. Select Email from the Pop up
6b1 Enter your personal email address and select Next
6b2 Enter the verification code that was sent to the your personal email address
6b3 Personal email is now added as an authentication factor. You can quit here or add other factors. When logging in, you may be challenged to enter the code that will be sent to the the email account just added.
6c Let’s add the Authenticator app. Select Authenticator app
6c1 Select the Download now option for information on downloading the mobile app or search for “Microsoft Authenticator” on the Apple or Google Play store and install
6c2 Launch the Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device and select the add sign
6c3 Select "Work or school account"
6c4 select scan QR code
6c5 select "Allow" if asked to use the camera and to receive notifications. Scan the QR code
6c6 the app should now show your email account as added
6c7 The account will now send a test approval to your mobile. This is the challenge you will now receive when someone tries to login to your account
